Anyone interested in coaching travel basketball at any level needs to submit a RAYBA application to info@rayba.org. Access RAYBA web page in July for application information.
Travel A Coach Selection Process
A coaching application needs to be submitted by the coaching candidate and interviewed prior to tryouts. A board approved panel will conduct the interview and also comprise of any board members who would like to observe the process. If there is a conflict of interest and a panel member is also interviewing to coach that panel member will be excluded from interviewing at that designated grade level. The panel will make recommendations to the Board for each coaching position and the Board will vote on these recommendations.
If there is only one candidate, panel still holds interview to confirm candidate is appropriate for coaching position.
Travel B Coach Selection Process
Those interested in coaching a Travel B Team need to submit an application and should attend the entire tryouts. The travel A coach will select the A team and if the interested B coach's child is not selected on the A Team, the Travel Coordinator will select the B Coach from list of candidates and notify everyone who expressed interest. The approved B Coach will then select the B team. If there is an approved 3rd team, the same process will apply.

MYAS Guidelines for Team Composition
MYAS Events Include: Super Saver tournaments, Girls' Metro Basketball League, Boys' Travel Basketball League, Grade State Basketball Tournament, Rec State Basketball Tournament (AAU events are excluded from these guidelines).
1. Athletes must compete with the travel association within the community where they reside or attend school. Exception: In situations involving "split families," the athlete may participate with the association closest to the mother's Qr father's residence.
2. If there is not a travel association within the community where the athlete resides or attends school, or if the athlete has been cut or restricted from the association, they may participate with a bordering association.
3. Any exceptions to the above guidelines require the approval of the MY AS Advisory Committee.
DEFINITIONS
"All-Star" An "all-star" team is defined as any team that is composed of players from multiple communities where recognized youth associations exist.
"Renegade/ Independent" A "renegade/independent" team is defined as any team that is comprised of players who all reside in the same community or attend the same school, but who have chosen to bypass the local traveling association.
MYAS GUIDELINES FOR ORGANIZATIONS
1. The sponsoring organization must be of perpetual nature (i.e. intend to be in existence from year to year).
2. The MYAS recognizes teams that emanate from organizations that have a democratic posture, meaning that the administrative structure of the organization must allow for open election of officers and open forums for parents and participants to voice their concern.
3. The MYAS recognizes organizations that promote and implement programs for multiple age/grade levels. We do not recognize single teams formulated by any individual(s) not affiliated with, or recognized by a recognized organization, as described above or a bona fide association.
Exceptions: Minneapolis and St. Paul do not have one governing body with drawn boundaries overseeing each city. Therefore, there could be many teams/organizations comprised within these cities that are eligible under MY AS guidelines.
