RAYBA Travel Basketball Program - Volunteer Deposit
First of all, thank you for your intrest
in RAYBA’s traveling basketball program! Our program is intended to provide the
youth in the southern part of District 728 an opportunity to develop their
basketball skills and prepare them for participation in the High School
program.
RAYBA is a non-profit organization. All of our
operating capital comes from one of two sources; fees and fundraising. We’ve
worked hard to become self sufficient and have been successful in keeping our
fundraising activities within the program. We understand that in a growing
community, fundraising can become overwhelming, so we don’t ask our families to
help sell candy, holiday items, or vendor cards or subscriptions as other
organizations have elected to do.
Rather, we raise our funds by hosting a spring
basketball tournament for Minnesota Youth Athletic Services; Minnesota’s
administrator of the nationwide AAU program. By being a host site for MYAS, we
raise funds by collecting gate fees and in the sale of concessions.
Hosting a tournament is heavily dependent upon
people; people to help monitor the gate, help prepare and sell concessions, help
cover the official tables and help in general organization of the event. This
past year we expanded our hosting to include two sites; a change that meant
greater revenue but also taxed our resources! Thanks to you and the other
parents in the travel program, we were again successful and continued to gain
the respect of MYAS as a tournament host!
This year we will again be hosting one or more
tournaments for MYAS. We again need help from our families in staffing the
vital needs of the tournament. This is the only volunteer / fundraising
effort we ask of our travel players or their families. In order to ensure
we have full participation from our families we ask each to provide a volunteer
deposit. This deposit is simply held until spring. After completing the
required volunteer time at the tournament we simply mail your check back to you
in the envelope you addressed tonight. No deposits are cashed. The check you
receive back is exactly the same check you provided tonight.
The only parties that are exempt to the volunteer
deposits are RAYBA board members, Head travel coaches and ONE assistant coach
from each travel team.
The tournament is normally hosted at the Rogers High School the first weekend of April
We hope this helps answer any questions you may have
regarding the need for the deposit or the plans around the spring tournament.
Again, as the details continue to come together we’ll be posting updates on
www.rayba.org.
Thank you again for your support and involvement.
It is truly that support that has made this a very successful youth basketball
program. And it is that involvement that will continue to establish RAYBA in
the future.
Thank you,
